In 2014, Hoya planned to relocate their manufacturing base from Japan to Taiwan and create a new generation of airway scopes that met the strict requirements of medical professionals in the field.

Project design requirements included:

• IPX7 waterproof
• More lightweight than previous models
• Compliance with ISO 13485 standards

Hoya had been working on this product for 2 years before coming to Brinno. With the help of the Brinno team the project was quickly accelerated from the development stage to product launch.  A brand new mechanical structure was designed by Brinno’s mechanical engineer team to reduce the weight of the scope by 35% and meet IPX7 waterproof requirements.

Brinno also managed the manufacturing of the scope’s mechanical parts and was done in an ISO 13485 certified facility.
